Census,
the Region's total population was 413,538, grew 20.9% from 1990
(341,994) compared to Washington State's increase of 21.1%. The
county covers 6,988square miles. CHOICE Region County has a per
capita income of $19,839, only 86% of the overall per capita
income of Washington State, 22,973. The County has 12% of it's
population living below the poverty line compared with Washington
State's 11%. The population growth from 1990 to 2000 in CHOICE
Region, 20.9% is lower that the others counties in the region,
20.9% and Washington State 21.1%. Only Hispanic population growth
126.2% from 8,728 to 19,747 in that period, it means that of
71,544 of persons who gain the population, 11,019 are Hispanic or
Latino, more or less the 15%. With that data, the low change of
the whole population and the high change in the Latino population,
it continued changing and increasing the needs of health care;
every additional percent of babies are born to Hispanic mothers.
The population has a median age of 38.1 years old, the median
age in males is 36.9 and in females are 39.2. The Hispanic
population is younger than the non-Hispanic 22.9 in males and 21.1
in females; both sexes are 22.2 years old in average. Of the total
population, 4.8% are Hispanic or Latino (of any race).
